Face 2 Face By: Tracy G. Thornton When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek."- Psalm 27:8
The other day I bought a set of cards that read "Let's Have Brunch". I didn't buy them for "get to know you" or networking opportunities. No, I actually picked them up to connect with "close" friends. Friends that I facebook almost daily, text regularly, and talk to over the phone even less. These are friends who I love, treasure and appreciate. Yet, I find it difficult to make the time to spend with them face to face.
During the past few years, just about every channel on television has some type of reality TV show. You have Keisha Cole, Tiny & Toya, Monica, The Crews, Michael Vick, and many, many more. Why is it so important for celebrities to allow the entire nation to see them in their transparency? Is it easier to just put themselves out there than, to live under a microscope?
Even during the taping of reality shows, there comes a time when the camera will go off while taping in restricted areas. Eventually “Day 1” will end (long before the actual end of the day). After the commercial break, we are suddenly watching “Day 2”.
Recently, I have received several requests for guidance and encouragement from interns that I mentor. The requests range from general advice about the workplace to specific action they should take to move forward with the education and careers. The students that I mentor are intelligent, hard working, focused, and productive.
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. - Exodus 14:13
I used to be quite the boxing fan. Of course, one of my all time favorites is the legendary Ali. Ali thought he developed a strategy he called the "rope a dope". Ali would lay on the ropes of the boxing ring and rest while he let his opponent punch him until he got tired. Once tired, the opponent would be weakened and Ali rested, Ali would come back full force and win the fight. While most believed this strategy was developed by Ali, God was the first one to use it. How?
Faith that is focused can produce miracles from the hand of God. Faith is defined as: complete trust, firm belief in something for which there is no proof, something that is believed especially with strong conviction
Faith means that you determine never ever again to move by what you see, to go by what you see, or to walk by what you see. It’s in the spirit realm hanging on to it.
Where fear is allowed to reign, dreams are left to die. Everyone feels afraid at one time or another, but to have everything we want in life we have to push through our fears and do what needs to be done. I know it’s sometimes scary to even think of doing things that scare us – but what is even more frightening is to think about coming to the end of our time on this planet having never watched our heart’s greatest desires realized. We must free ourselves from the constraints of fear, and allow our dreams to fully manifest.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my life in Jesus. I’ve been on this spiritual journey with Him for over 30 years. Good years. Prosperous and fruitful years. By His grace, I have managed (through many mistakes along the way!) to build a strong, lasting spiritual foundation for my life. But how did I build this foundation? What were some of the basic building blocks which placed one solid stone next to another until my footing was supported by a foundation so durable and sizable and resilient that I’m able to do well in Christ week in and week out, month in and month out?
